Article Spinning Software and Competitive Keywords

Article Spinning Software takes an original article and spins to create 10′s or even 100′s of new versions of the author’s original article. This is done so to allow authors to syndicate multiple versions of an article that will pass Google’s duplicate content filter and thus achieve multiple inbound links and enhanced search engine visibility for the website, product or cause the article is promoting.

Why Does Google Filter Content

Filtering content raises the user experience, if you were to search Google and be returned the exact same information time and time again you would soon tire of it and move your search to another search engine. Content is filtered to provide a wider selection of unique results relevant to a search query that provide a much broader number of distinct results, opinions and useful resources. The goal of Article spinning is to bypass this filter.

What Happens To Filtered Results

Google’s default search results are filtered for the reasons outlined above. To view unfiltered results navigate to the last page of results clicking on the link ‘repeat the search with the omitted results included ’which is normally located below the last results will switch the filter off . If your spun articles appear within the unfiltered SERPs it’s a good indication that your article spinning endeavors have failed in one respect, that is, to gain search engine visibility via multiple results.

Switching filters off is only an indication that an article has been filtered because of duplicate content issues; there is also Host Crowding to contend with. Host Crowding is a filter that limits the amount of pages that can be listed in search engine results from any single domain. Google currently sets that limit to two pages, these pages can be grouped together with most relevant result first the second result directly underneath and slightly indented or they could be pages apart.

Whether you are writing bespoke articles or using article spinning software it is always a good idea to check the level of competition for your target keyphrase on the site you intend to post your articles. Article syndication sites and directories attract thousands of new articles daily and there is a better than fair chance that there are already articles being hosted that target the keywords you wish to target.

Entering the above search into Google will let you know how many pages there are on ezinearticles.com that already target the term ‘Article Spinning’.  You can amend the keyphrase and the website to tailor the search to your requirements.

Before you can make it into the Google results you need to be one of the first two results returned in the above search. To gain some idea of how difficult that might be would be to investigate the number and quality of the inbound links pointing to those pages and therefore the level of off page optimization required just to break free of the host crowding filter.  Article spinning software cannot help bypass host crowding in fact it might make matters more difficult if you are trying to spin an article that is already hosted and fail to make it suitably different.

Article Spinning Software and Competitive Keywords

This brings us neatly to the point of this post, is article spinning a viable technique to gain rankings for competitive terms. Well the available evidence would suggest otherwise, if you look at search results for competitive keyphrases there is no evidence of rankings being achieved by articles whether they are spun or otherwise.  I am talking about the really competitive terms that target keyphrases around mortgages, finance, real estate and a plethora of other competitive verticals.

The Proof Of The Article Spinning Pudding

But without any real research it is difficult to say whether article spinning versus posting multiple versions of the same article is the most beneficial way to syndicate articles. Well the only way to find out is to test it, and that is exactly what two authors who use article syndication have set out to do. Both authors are attempting to do is outrank each other for the term ‘Article Spinning’. One will use his spinning skills to create articles and syndicate them, the other will syndicate bespoke un-spun articles. The winner will be announced on May 31st 2010 in the forums at http://hubpages.com.
