Albertinia, a great area for adventurous outdoor activities.

Situated between the Langeberg Mountains in the north and the balmy Indian Ocean in the south, Albertinia is considered the floral paradise of the Garden Route. The town is also the country’s foremost source of aloe juice that is sought after for its medicinal properties and for use in the skin care industry. A thatch and ochre industry is also thriving in the region. There is an interesting and eclectic variety of activities and attractions on offer in, as well as around the town itself.

If you won’t have time to visit the more northern parts of the country, but would like to go on a proper game drive, then Albertinia is the place to visit. The area boasts a malaria free, private game reserve set against the backdrop of the glorious mountains of the region. This reserve is home to various fascinating animal species, including the African Big Five. Game viewing is done in open air Land Rovers and should you wish to stay there, luxury accommodation is available as well as fabulous dining options.

You are guaranteed to find many activities to occupy your time, from 4 x 4 trailing, just relaxing in the beautiful environment, bird watching, or hiking along the Gourits River. The unique Cape Fynbos in the area is really worth a look. There is more than 8500 species to be found along the Cape coast of South Africa. The Dunes Country Route, snaking through the Canca Valley is a great location to admire this floral wonderland. Wines are also produced in this region and wine tasting has become a very popular tourist activity and definitely an excursion not to be missed.

If you’re a foodie, then visiting this town is a must! There’s a quail farm to visit where you can buy everything they produce there. The region also has a variety of weekend farmers markets, farm festivals and farm shops. Due to the large farming community, low food miles and sustainability, the produce is of the highest quality. Stopping at the many farms stalls along the roads is also great, as the fresh and dried fruit sold here is also of the best quality and always very tasty.

Accommodation in Albertinia and surrounds is not difficult to find as there is a good variety available. From quaint little B&B’s to more luxury guest houses and the private game reserve mentioned earlier. There is bound to be something appropriate to suit your needs and budget.

Albertinia is a floral paradise in the Garden Route, offering great outdoor Albertinia activities that will keep you and the entire family entertained the hole day and Albertinia accommodation is very easy to find that is comfortable easy on the pocket and suited to all your requirements.
